Search Engine Optimization is the biggest challenge for all the bloggers, there are many things that has to be done in order to drive traffic to the Blog. If you think that submitting your website to Google is enough to drive traffic to your blog then probably you are wrong. Although it is true that Google is the largest search engine but keep in mind that everyone doesn’t uses Google, there are some who uses Bing (Yahoo) and some Yandex. So it is really important that your website is listed in each and every search engine.
In this tutorial I will be telling you how you can submit sitemap to Bing Webmaster Tools assuming that you have already created a sitemap, if you haven’t then See: How to Create a Sitemap page in WordPress .
Step 1
The first step is to login with your Microsoft account to Bing Webmaster Tools website.If you don’t have a Microsoft account you can SignUp for free.
Step 2
After Login you have to add your website Under My Sites section. Enter your domain name and press “ADD“.
Step 3
After pressing “ADD” you will be asked to enter your Sitemap URL which can be obtained by typing www.yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml in the address bar. Once you are able to see your website sitemap copy the URL of the sitemap and paste it where it says.
Step 4
Now you have to verify your website. There are many 3 options that you can choose to verify your website. Personally I recommend HTML tag method which is Option 2 as it is a simple method. Copy the meta tag.
Step 5
Now get back to your WordPress Site. Assuming that you have Yoast SEO WordPress Plugin already installed click on SEO and then “General”.
Step 6
Click on “Webmaster Tools” tab and paste the meta tag beside Bing Webmaster Tools that you copied in Step 4.Finally press Save.
Step 7
Get Back to “Bing Webmaster Tools” and Click on “Verify” button after completing Step 6.
Now under Sitemap section you can check the status of your Sitemap and also fix errors and warning if reported.
