How to Install Movierulz on Kodi: A Step-by-Step Guide

Kodi is a powerful media center that allows users to stream content through various add-ons. While official add-ons are safe, third-party add-ons like Movierulz are popular for accessing regional content.

Disclaimer: The following guide is for educational purposes only. Accessing copyrighted material without permission is illegal in many jurisdictions. Always verify the legality of the content you stream.

Prerequisites: Enable Unknown Sources

Before installing any third-party add-on, you must configure Kodi to allow it.

  1. Launch Kodi and click the Gear Icon (Settings) at the top left.
  2. Select System.
  3. Hover over Add-ons on the left menu.
  4. Toggle the switch for Unknown Sources to ON.
  5. Click Yes on the warning prompt.

Step 1: Add the Repository Source

Movierulz does not have a permanent official repository and often shifts between different third-party hosts (like the Simply Caz or Mucky Duck repos in the past). You will need to find the current active URL for a repository hosting the Movierulz plugin.

  1. Go back to Settings > File Manager.
  2. Double-click Add Source.
  3. Click <None> and type the URL of the repository you found.
  4. Give the source a name (e.g., “MovierulzRepo”) and click OK.

Step 2: Install from Zip File

  1. Return to the Kodi home screen.
  2. Click Add-ons > Box Icon (Package Installer) at the top left.
  3. Select Install from zip file.
  4. Choose the name you created in the previous step (e.g., “MovierulzRepo”).
  5. Click on the .zip file to install. Wait for the “Add-on installed” notification.

Step 3: Install the Movierulz Add-on

  1. On the same screen, select Install from repository.
  2. Choose the repository you just installed.
  3. Go to Video add-ons.
  4. Scroll down to find Movierulz.
  5. Click Install and wait for the confirmation notification.

Important Safety Tip: Use a VPN

When using third-party Kodi add-ons, your IP address is visible to your ISP and potential snoops. It is highly recommended to use a reliable VPN (Virtual Private Network) to encrypt your traffic, bypass geo-restrictions, and maintain anonymity while streaming.
